It is an issue which is rocking the
parliament and may lead to a stormy budget session. Tomorrow will be a crucial
day for the UPA-2 and how it will tackle and whom it will support when the US-sponsored
resolution is brought in UN assembly.
It has become an emotive issue for
Tamils and they are outraged on genocide done by the cruel Sri Lankan
government during their so called “war against terror”. It is really unfortunate
to see how a small boy had been killed in cold blood. Is it not the violation
of war ethics.?
The acts of the present government in the parliament and the PM’s
letter to leaders in Tamil Nadu clearly shows the government will likely abstain
or it will use its usual statement which it had used in the past that “it won’t
support any resolutions against a particular nation”. By stating so the
government is risking its face among the Tamils.
So just by supporting the resolution
the crimes done by the Sri Lankan government cannot be rubbed off. Will it bring
any good to the Tamil people still living? As a matter of fact it will lead to
life or death situation to the people left out. It would be unwise if we try to
restore justice for those died in genocide by leaving thousands of Tamils living
there in danger. I would diminish the livelihood of people living there.
India is a land-locked country. If
in case India supports the US sponsored resolution it paves way for Pakistan and
China to join hands with Sri Lanka which leaves national security in trouble. Once
the Indian government supports the resolution it will nullify chances of any
talks with Sri Lanka and it is impossible to restore the livelihood for the Tamils.
Considering it in other perspective,
people must know what are the things done
by the LTTE. It used poor Tamils
as human shield to protect their own
skin and it even lead to the killing of many Sri Lankans. If one says the Sri
Lankan govt’s actions are against humanity then how it can be named.?
India
at this stage must not get succumbed to western’s
autocratic thoughts and actions. As a main player in this issue it must
act in forefront and propose a resolution for the political settlement and try
to get representation for Tamils in the Sri Lankan parliament.
